October 26, 2025. Kuta’s iconic shoreline came alive once again as Mamaka by Ovolo hosted the second edition of Mamaka Fun Run, attracting over 700 runners who turned every mile into meaningful impact for Bali’s children.
From the very first edition, 100% of registration fees have been donated directly to the Bali Children Foundation (BCF) — ensuring every stride, drop of sweat, and shared smile translates into real educational support for underprivileged youth in Bali.
This year, runners witnessed that impact first-hand through the story of Giri, a former BCF student sponsored and trained by Mamaka, who has just graduated from Elizabeth International School of Hospitality — one day before the run. Today, she is employed at Mamaka and living independently.
“I’m so grateful to Mamaka and BCF. They gave me the chance to study, grow, and now stand on my own,” Giri said proudly.
“I graduated yesterday — and today I get to celebrate it with everyone here. It’s an amazing feeling.”
Giri now trains alongside six fellow BCF students currently at Mamaka, proving this partnership is not just about giving back — it’s about creating sustainable futures.
“Seeing Giri here with her graduation cap — that’s the real finish line,” said Joel Bartlett, Area General Manager, Mamaka Southeast Asia.
“Every kilometre our runners conquer makes a real difference. This is what ‘Miles for Smiles’ is truly about.”
BCF Founder Margaret Barry added,
“Our mission extends beyond education — we help children grow emotionally, mentally, and professionally. With Mamaka’s unwavering support, these children don’t just dream — they achieve.”
The youngest hero of the day was six-year-old Kay, who completed his first-ever 5K in 35 minutes, running side by side with his parents — a living reminder that kindness has no age.
Ahead of the flag-off, Fitness Plus Indonesia pumped up the crowd with a dynamic warm-up, later hosting plank and push-up challenges for finishers. Pocari Sweat kept runners hydrated throughout the morning.
The scenic 5K and 10K coastal routes through Kuta weren’t just a run — they were a reconnection to the spirit of Bali’s most legendary beach.
“Kuta is everyone’s first love,” said Bartlett.
“This run is about reigniting that spark — showing the world that Kuta is still alive, still radiant, and still has stories worth running for.”
With over 25,000 children supported by BCF across Indonesia and participation numbers growing each year, Mamaka is now aiming to cross 1,000 runners in 2026.
