The wellness trend in Bali continues to evolve. Once closely associated with spas, yoga, and personal care, the concept of healthy living is now extending into various areas of the home, including the bathroom.
Growing public awareness of health and quality of life has driven demand for household products that are safer and more environmentally friendly. Consumers are no longer focused solely on the food they consume or the products they use on their bodies; they are also becoming increasingly selective about the cleaning products used in their everyday living environments.
This trend is reflected in a collaboration between Bali-based wellness brand Utama Spice and premium bathroom design specialist Ahti Interiors. Together, they have introduced a plant-based bathroom cleaning product designed to support a healthy lifestyle while promoting environmental sustainability.
For more than three decades, Utama Spice has been recognized as a pioneer of plant-based wellness products, utilizing essential oils and traditional Indonesian botanical knowledge. Meanwhile, Ahti Interiors is known for curating premium sanitary ware for residential and hospitality projects, emphasizing both aesthetics and functionality.
The collaboration has resulted in the launch of Limescale Remover, a plant-based solution formulated to remove hard water stains and mineral deposits from various bathroom surfaces.
Ria Templer, Managing Director of Utama Spice, said that home care products have traditionally been viewed primarily from a functional perspective, while relatively little attention has been paid to their ingredients.
“Home care products are generally regarded as purely functional necessities, so awareness of what goes into them remains relatively limited. We wanted to create a product that delivers high performance without relying on harsh chemicals that can potentially damage surfaces and may be harmful to both people and the environment,” she said.
The product utilizes a combination of three acids—citric acid, gluconic acid, and lactic acid—which effectively remove mineral buildup commonly caused by high mineral content in groundwater. The formula is also enriched with biodegradable plant-based surfactants and essential oils, enabling effective cleaning without the aggressive chemicals typically found in conventional bathroom cleaners.
One of its key advantages is its brass-safe formulation, allowing it to clean effectively without damaging brass fixtures—a feature that remains uncommon among high-performance limescale removers.
For Ahti Interiors, the launch of this product reflects changing trends in modern living spaces. Bathrooms are no longer viewed simply as functional rooms but have become an integral part of a comfortable and calming lifestyle experience.
“People are increasingly investing in natural materials, carefully selected fixtures, and spaces designed to create a sense of calm and comfort. We believe the products used to care for these spaces should reflect the same level of thought and attention,” said Erica, Marketing Manager of Ahti Interiors.
The collaboration also demonstrates how Bali continues to expand its influence within the wellness industry—not only through personal care products but also through innovations that enhance the quality of everyday living environments.
By combining effectiveness, health, sustainability, and design, the concept of wellness is becoming increasingly holistic. Home care is no longer just about cleanliness; it is part of creating a healthier, more comfortable living environment that supports a better quality of life.
The Limescale Remover is now available at all Utama Spice stores and through online sales channels, following its launch in late May 2026. Several additional home care products are also in development to meet growing consumer interest in healthy and sustainable living.
