The Badung Regency Government continues to strengthen its commitment to accelerating waste management efforts. One of the measures undertaken is collaborating with state-owned and private companies through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR/TJSP) programs. This synergy was marked by the symbolic handover of composting bins from Perumda Air Minum Tirta Mangutama Badung and PT Agus Nusa Penida (Hotel Horison Seminyak) to the Badung Regency Government.
A total of 110 composting bins were donated, consisting of 60 units from Perumda Tirta Mangutama and 50 units from Hotel Horison Seminyak. The assistance was handed over by President Director of Perumda Air Minum Tirta Mangutama Badung, I Wayan Suyasa, together with Operational Manager of Hotel Horison Seminyak, Gusti Ayu Silka Pratiska, and was received directly by Badung Vice Regent Bagus Alit Sucipta at the Lobby of the Badung Regent’s Office, Badung Government Center (Puspem Badung), on Friday (Feb 20).
Vice Regent Bagus Alit Sucipta expressed his gratitude for the composting bin assistance from Perumda Tirta Mangutama and Hotel Horison Seminyak. He stated that this concrete step aligns with the Badung Government’s commitment to addressing the waste issue.
“Waste management is an urgent matter that we must tackle together, especially as the Suwung landfill will be closed. We need to move quickly alongside all stakeholders. These composting bins are one of the solutions and will greatly assist in managing household waste,” he explained.
Bagus Alit Sucipta acknowledged that the composting bin assistance is an initial phase, with a total of 667 composting bins successfully collected from several companies so far. The bins will soon be distributed to areas that do not have telajakan (traditional yard space for composting).
“In addition to assistance from the Badung Government, we will continue collaborating with the private sector to provide composting bins and modern teba (household organic waste processing facilities) for the community. For example, companies in Kuta or Seminyak will be encouraged to support communities in those respective areas,” he added.
Meanwhile, President Director of Perumda Air Minum Tirta Mangutama Badung, I Wayan Suyasa, stated that the initiative represents a joint effort to maintain environmental sustainability. He emphasized that synergy with the Badung Government will continue, particularly in supporting waste management programs.
“We are ready to support waste management efforts in Badung. Through this composting bin assistance, we hope that at least organic waste can be managed at its source, namely at the household level,” he said.
A similar statement was conveyed by Operational Manager of Hotel Horison Seminyak, Gusti Ayu Silka Pratiska. She noted that the assistance reflects the company’s care and love for the environment, as part of implementing the Tri Hita Karana philosophy within the company.
“What we are providing is a form of love for the environment. We hope it will help reduce waste and positively impact the sustainability of tourism,” she expressed. TS-01
