Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa attended a meeting hosted by the Governor of Bali at the Kertha Sabha Meeting Room, Jaya Sabha, the Governor’s Official Residence in Denpasar, on Friday (14/3).
The meeting was held to collectively review a presentation from a third party regarding more effective and sustainable waste management strategies in Bali.
Officially opened by the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster emphasized the urgency of accelerating waste management as part of the implementation of Bali Province’s sustainable development vision and mission.
The forum was attended by Regents/Mayors from across Bali, along with their teams and key stakeholders in environmental management. Accompanying the Badung Regent were Acting Head of the Badung Environmental and Hygiene Agency (DLHK) IB Gede Arjana, DLHK Secretary Made Warastuthi, and Head of the Cleanliness Division, AA Gede Dalem.
Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa reaffirmed Badung Regency’s commitment to implementing a technology-based, participatory waste management system aligned with more progressive environmental policies.
“We continue to strive to accelerate the implementation of source-based waste management policies, optimize infrastructure, and build cross-sector synergy to create a cleaner and more sustainable Bali. This meeting serves as a strategic moment to formulate an integrated policy for waste management that not only focuses on reducing waste volume but also creates economic value from waste processing,” he stated.
Through collaboration between local governments and the use of technology and innovation, Bali’s waste management system—especially in Badung Regency—is expected to become more effective and have a significant impact on environmental sustainability.
In line with the regional government’s efforts to develop a sustainable, environmentally friendly waste management system oriented toward a circular economy, the third-party presenter outlined a modern technology-based waste management approach. This approach aims to provide a comprehensive solution for waste handling by prioritizing innovation in waste sorting, recycling, and renewable energy-based processing. TS-01
