The joint SAR team found the visitor who was swept away by the current while swimming at Kedonganan Beach on Monday evening (2/6/2025). Denden Nugraha (28) was found deceased at around 17:15 WITA. The body was first spotted by local fishermen, floating at coordinates 8°45’30″S – 115°8’40″E, approximately 1.5 NM west of the incident location.
The second day of the SAR operation had been underway since this morning. At 07:30 WITA, a sea rescue unit (SRU Laut) conducted a sweep using a rubber boat from the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office and a jet ski from Balawista. Following the SAR operation plan, the sea unit focused their search around the incident site, taking into account the current’s direction and wind speed. They departed from Kelan Beach, while the jet ski was launched from Muaya Beach.
“The challenges we face here include unfavorable wave conditions, high waves, and numerous fishing nets scattered by local fishermen,” explained the Head of Operations and Standby Division of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, I Wayan Juni Antara. A similar statement was made by the Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, I Nyoman Sidakarya, who came directly to the location to monitor the search.
The land rescue unit (SRU Darat) conducted shoreline searches, deployed drones, and coordinated with local fishermen and communities north and south of the drowning site.
At 18:00 WITA, the rubber boat unit safely docked at Kelan Beach. Nugraha’s body was then transported to Prof Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar using an ambulance from SAR Potency 115.
SAR personnel involved in the operation included 8 from the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, 7 from the Bali Police’s Samapta Directorate, 2 from Kedonganan Water Police, 2 from South Kuta Balawista, 4 from SAR Potency 115, 1 from SAR Potency Bares, along with local fishermen, the victim’s relatives, and local residents.
