The joint SAR team searching for a 79-year-old grandfather who had not returned from farming in Pengeragoan Village, Pekutatan District, Jembrana Regency, finally found a breakthrough. After five days of searching, Wayan Mender was found deceased on Monday (2/6/2025) around 15:45 WITA.
Since this morning, search efforts by the joint SAR team had been underway. Five personnel from the Jembrana Search and Rescue Post joined other SAR elements, including the Bhabinkamtibmas of Pengeragoan Village, the village Babinsa, SAR Potency 115, the victim’s family, and local residents.
They were divided into several teams and deployed across suspected search points where the victim might be located. The first sortie, which lasted until about 11:00 WITA, yielded no results. “The first sortie we conducted was from the direction of the victim’s house heading north and west,” explained Dewa Hendir, Coordinator of the Jembrana Search and Rescue Post.
Only during the second sortie was the victim finally found at coordinates 8°26’46.14″S – 114°54’8.93″E. “The SAR team found the victim deceased, approximately 370 meters west of his home,” he added. Wayan Mender’s body was then evacuated to the family residence using the Pengeragoan Village ambulance.
As reported earlier, on Wednesday (28/5/2025), Wayan Mender left home to go farming. The Denpasar Search and Rescue Office received information the following day at 16:50 WITA and immediately coordinated with the family to begin the search the next day. TS-01
