PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (ITDC) once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting local community development through its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program. This time, ITDC provided assistance and carried out toilet repairs at SD Negeri Sekembang, Mertak Village, Pujut District, Central Lombok, on March 14, 2025.
This initiative was part of the “Berkah Ramadan Seru 1446 H” event under the theme “Jalani Ramadan Sepenuh Hati.”
ITDC’s Director of Operations, Wenda R. Nabiel, stated that this activity was a tangible form of ITDC’s concern for the communities surrounding The Mandalika, especially in improving the quality of the learning environment for children.
“We are also collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism, represented by the Director of Lombok Tourism Polytechnic, to initiate the Clean Tourism Movement (GWP), which will provide long-term benefits and raise awareness of the importance of environmental cleanliness, starting from schools,” he explained.
The initiative began with a cleanup activity led by ITDC teams in The Mandalika, together with students of SD Negeri Sekembang. Additionally, school toilet doors were repaired to ensure they could be used optimally.
ITDC also donated various educational supplies, including carpets, whiteboards, stationery, world maps, globes, bookshelves, and copies of the Quran, to support the school’s teaching and learning activities.
To further boost students’ enthusiasm and joy, ITDC organized various educational games with exciting prizes. The company also distributed gift packages containing books and reusable water bottles to educate children about using environmentally friendly and reusable products.
The TJSL program aligns with the Clean Tourism Movement initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, aiming to establish The Mandalika as a high-quality and sustainable tourist destination. This movement seeks to raise public awareness of the importance of maintaining cleanliness and environmental conservation, particularly in tourism areas.
Director of Lombok Tourism Polytechnic, Dr. Ali Muhtasom, M.M., CHCM, CHE, emphasized that introducing the Clean Tourism Movement to elementary school children is a brilliant long-term investment that should be continuously implemented.
“We fully support early education on clean tourism to nurture future generations who are environmentally conscious,” he stated.
ITDC remains committed to contributing to the well-being of communities around The Mandalika and promoting more inclusive and sustainable tourism development.
“ITDC strives to implement TJSL programs that have a real impact on local communities. We believe that collaboration and active involvement from all stakeholders are crucial in making The Mandalika not only beautiful but also clean, high-quality, and sustainable,” Wenda concluded. TS-01
