What started as a cooperative rooted in community spirit has now taken a bold step into the creative economy. Marking its 23rd anniversary, Subhakti Cooperative celebrated with a lively event featuring a fun walk, zumba session, discount bazaar, and a fashion show. At the heart of the celebration was the launch of Gazelle, the cooperative’s new fashion brand.
For Subhakti Chairman Made Suanda Wisnaya, SE., the launch was more than just a ceremonial highlight.
“We wanted to bring something different. After a year of market research, Gazelle was born as a new identity to elevate the cooperative to a more modern level,” he said.
Gazelle is the result of collaboration with fashion artisans from Bandung. The brand offers a wide range of customizable products including office and cooperative uniforms, shirts, bags, shoes, and wallets.
“We want to prove that a cooperative can deliver fashion products on par with established brands, while still providing space for members to collaborate,” Suanda added.

A Long Journey, A New Direction
Subhakti Cooperative was founded by three banjar (traditional community units) in Ungasan Village, born out of gotong royong (mutual cooperation). Even its uniform carries meaning, a soccer ball symbolizing the founders’ love for the game, a traditional kepeng coin representing stability, three stars for the founding banjar, and a leaf symbolizing harmony with nature.
Over two decades, Subhakti has expanded its ventures into guest houses, villas, and car wash services. Now, with the launch of Subhakti Fashion (Gazelle) under PT Multi Kolaborasi Indonesia, the cooperative marks its step into modernization.
“We don’t want to stop at traditional businesses. Times are changing, and we must answer with innovation. Gazelle is our gateway to the creative industry,” Suanda explained.
More Than Just Profit
Although fashion is often associated with big business, Suanda emphasized that Subhakti remains rooted in its social mission.
“Our goal is not profit alone, but benefit. We want to educate young people to be creative and give members opportunities to grow together with the cooperative,” he said.
With over 13,000 members and assets exceeding Rp200 billion, Subhakti is now one of the strongest cooperatives in Bali. This year, it is also expanding its reach with new offices in Batubulan and Sempidi, with plans for a branch in Tabanan.

Collaboration as the Key
The 23rd anniversary carried the theme “Collaboration Makes Stronger”. Subhakti reinforced this commitment through MoUs with Bupda Desa Adat Ungasan and other cooperatives.
“We believe that through collaboration, modernization, and stability, cooperatives can remain relevant and continue to grow,” Suanda concluded.
In the era of globalization, Subhakti’s launch of Gazelle sends a clear message: cooperatives are not just about savings and loans — they can also be powerful drivers of the creative industry.
