A construction worker who was reported to have fallen into the canyon of Ayung river yesterday, in Bongkasa village, Abiansemal Sub-district, Badung, was unfortunately found dead, Friday (7/3/2025). The victim named Joko (25M) was found by the rescue team with his clothing still fully intact, laying on his back with his arm stuck under a pile of rocks.
The rescue team used a rafting boat to search the area and they eventually found the victim around 09.50AM, 2,5KM along the south stream from where he had fallen.
“We coordinated and worked together with the owner of the rafting boats and was provided 3 unit including a guide. The rescue team then used them for the search.” Said I Wayan Juni Antara, Head of Operations and Preparedness Section, Search and Rescue Management of Denpasar.
Throughout the search, the rescue team had to cross the river filled with rocks. The distance from where the victim was found and where the ambulance had been parked was pretty far, and they had to pass through very steep terrains. “We had issues with the terrains, steep terrains, descent of cliffs, river filled with rocks, the stream was strong aswell, so the search was overall pretty dangerous,” he had added.
After the evacuation, Joko’s body was taken to the Mangusada Hospital with an ambulance owned by Bali Bhuana Rescue. During the SAR operation, various SAR units were involved, including the Search and Rescue Office of Denpasar, Brimob of Bali Police, Abiansemal Police Sector, Yellow Garden Rafting, SAI Rescue, ORARI Bali, RAPI Bali, Bhuana Bali Rescue, residents of Carang Sari Village, Bhabinkamtibmas Carang Sari, Petang Sub-district Head, SAR Dog Indonesia, the victim’s family, and the local community.
