The Rp. 2 million assistance per household provided during National Religious Holidays (HBKN) in Badung Regency is not a holiday allowance (THR) but rather a measure to prevent inflation. This was stated by Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa, accompanied by Regional Secretary IB. Surya Suamba, during the High-Level Meeting of the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) of Badung Regency, held at Ruang Nayaka Gosana I, Puspem Badung, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
“HBKN often has the potential to increase inflation. This policy is similar to what the central government has done by reducing airline ticket prices through a decrease in VAT from 11% to 5%, which led to lower ticket prices. In our case, we provide direct cash transfers to the community in the hope of controlling inflation. This is possible because our fiscal condition allows it,” said Regent Adi Arnawa.
He also emphasized that TPID Badung has consistently worked to manage inflation by ensuring the availability of essential commodities. Given that Badung is an international tourism destination, demand comes not only from local residents but also from migrants and tourists visiting the region.
“I urge all relevant departments to prepare 10 key food commodities that frequently contribute to inflation in Badung. We will strengthen this effort through budget policies and additional mitigation measures to keep inflation under control and prevent significant increases,” he stated.
Deputy Head of the Bali Province Bank Indonesia Representative Office, Butet Linda H. Panjaitan, praised the Badung Regency Government for its Badung Siaga Pangan (Badung SIGAP) program and its efforts in strengthening rice production from upstream to downstream, which have helped maintain inflation stability.
She further explained that the integration of rice production processes must be maintained. “Despite limited agricultural land and labor, Badung Regency has managed to increase its rice productivity. With support from the regional government and Perumda, this initiative has significantly boosted production. This achievement was recognized when Badung received the third-highest national productivity award from the Ministry of Agriculture on Indonesia’s Independence Day,” she added.
Also present at the meeting were the Head of Badung’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Dr. Yudi Agusta, representatives from the Bali branch of the National Logistics Agency (Bulog), Badung’s Economic and Development Assistant IB. Gede Arjana, heads of related government offices, and the Operational Director of Perumda Pasar Mangu Giri Sedana Badung, I Wayan Mustika. TS-01
