Known for his bold culinary personality and Michelin-level pedigree, Ashley’s leadership marks a strategic push to elevate both Kuta Social Club and Street 32, positioning the beachfront hotel as one of the most inventive dining hubs on the island.
Ashley’s story is anything but traditional. The Australian-born chef left school at 15 and discovered his calling in the high-pressure heartbeat of the kitchen. After graduating from Melbourne’s William Angliss Institute, he refined his craft under the guidance of iconic Italian chef Riccardo Momesso — a mentorship shaped by wild game hunts, long nights, and lessons rooted in authentic, soulful cooking.
His career then expanded across continents — from Australia’s high-energy kitchens to the Michelin-starred Turners in the UK — before he made Bali his culinary playground. His signature approach gained attention through standout roles at Mozaic Beach Club, Starfish Bloo at W Bali, and a five-year tenure as Executive Chef at Shishi Izakaya Lounge.
Now, at MAMAKA by Ovolo, Ashley brings his Mediterranean roots back into the spotlight, but with a fun, rebellious twist tailored for Kuta Social Club’s rooftop culture.
