The Mandalika in Central Lombok is set to roar with engines, cheers, and music this August as InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) rolls out a spectacular lineup of sportainment events. From high-octane motorcycle championships to luxury sports car racing and open-air concerts, the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit is becoming more than just a racetrack—it’s a tourism magnet driving the local economy.
The headline act is the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) 2025, taking place from August 29–31. This elite competition will see 34 riders from 10 countries—spanning China, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Mozambique, New Zealand, Malaysia, the UK, Thailand, Canada, and Italy—battle it out on one of the most scenic circuits in the world. Beyond the thrill of the race, ARRC is expected to pump energy into the local economy, from boosting hotel occupancy to creating opportunities for local SMEs and artisans.
“This is our commitment to developing an economy driven by sportainment tourism,” said Troy Reza Warokka, ITDC’s Director of Operations. “With ARRC, the Mandalika Racing Series, Porsche Carrera Cup, and Mandalika Suka-Suka, we are not only offering world-class racing and entertainment but also generating significant opportunities for tourism, hospitality, and local businesses.”
The packed racing calendar begins with the Mandalika Racing Series 2025 Round 3 (August 15–17), a national motorsport event sharpening the skills of Indonesia’s top riders on a world-class track. This will be followed by the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2025 (August 22–24), bringing luxury sports cars, elite drivers, and heart-pounding speed to the island.
The finale is pure entertainment, Mandalika Suka-Suka (August 31), an open-air music festival featuring popular acts like Ndarboy Genk, Happy Asmara, and NDX AKA. With performances set against the backdrop of the circuit’s Kampoeng Suka-Suka and Kampoeng Balap areas, the event will also open space for local food stalls, crafts, and creative products—turning the venue into a buzzing cultural marketplace.
According to Priandhi Satria, CEO of Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), hosting these events proves Mandalika’s capability to stand alongside the world’s best sporting destinations. “We believe these activities will further cement The Mandalika’s position on the global sport tourism map.” Said Priandhi.
Ron Hogg, Promotions Director at Two Wheels Motor Racing (TWMR), added, The Mandalika is a standout venue—world-class facilities, breathtaking coastal views, and a prime location. It’s not just a race circuit; it’s an attraction that draws teams, sponsors, and fans from all over Asia.
The Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) sees ARRC as a platform for nurturing national riders and strengthening regional sport tourism. “We call on all racing fans to show their support and make this event a moment of pride for Indonesia,” said Haji Edi Saputra, IMI Deputy for Motorcycle Sports.
With world-class races, luxury sports cars, and a festival-like atmosphere, Mandalika this August isn’t just about speed—it’s about making sport a celebration, turning tourism into a shared experience, and proving that Indonesia can lead in the global sportainment arena. TS-01
