A Chinese national was reported to have been swept away by currents at Nyang-Nyang Beach, Pecatu Village, South Kuta, Badung Regency, on Sunday (16/3/2025). The victim, identified as Hu Xisong (69), is still being searched for by a joint SAR team.
The incident is estimated to have occurred around 08:30 WITA. Witnesses reported that the foreign national was carried away by a strong current toward the east. “We received information about the incident of a missing foreigner being swept away at Nyang-Nyang Beach at 09:20 and immediately deployed 8 personnel to the location,” said the Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, I Nyoman Sidakarya.
In addition to the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office team, the search efforts also involve Balawista. The SAR units (SRU) have been divided into two search areas. The land search unit is sweeping along the shoreline from Nyang-Nyang Beach to the location where the victim was carried away, covering a distance of approximately 600 meters.
Meanwhile, the sea search unit is using one jetski and one rubber boat. “The land SRU is sweeping from Nyang-Nyang Beach to the east, Balawista’s jetski is searching from Muaya Beach to Nyang-Nyang Beach, and Basarnas’ rubber boat is covering the area from Pandawa Beach to Nyang-Nyang Beach,” explained Gede Surya H, the field coordinator.
Aerial monitoring was also conducted by the SAR team using a thermal drone, but no signs of the victim were found. TS-01
